Best Ph.D. dissertation in SIBGRAPI 2016

Dr. Thiago Vallin Spina, a post-doc researcher at LIDS, has been awarded along with his advisor, Prof. Dr. Alexandre Xavier Falcão, the first place in the Workshop of Theses and Dissertations of the Conference on Graphics, Patterns, and Images (SIBGRAPI) 2016.

Dr. Spina has primarily worked on the interactive natural image/video segmentation problem using graphs and fuzzy models of content knowledge. He has made several contributions to the image processing and computer vision fields, including secondary works on medical and geological image segmentation, and body pose estimation in video for early autism assessment.
