LIDS provided Academic Support to the "One Health Meeting in Parasitology"- 2nd Edition

The São Paulo State University (UNESP) - School of Veterinary Medicine, Araçatuba, SP, the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) - School of Medical Sciences and Computing Institute / Laboratory of Image Data Science (LIDS), Campinas, SP, and the Group of Epidemiological Surveillance XI (GVE-XI), Araçatuba, SP, were pleased to present the "One Health Meeting in Parasitology, 2nd Edition", which took place on 3-5 December 2018, at the campus of the School of Veterinary Medicine - UNESP/Araçatuba, SP.

The second edition of this event maintained its purposes of updating knowledge and preparing healthcare’s professionals and the academic community in regard to the importance of parasitic diseases in humans and animals in the Brazilian context. The cycle of speeches was carefully thought out in order to provide an inspiring environment of communication and also to bring to light the new perspectives on the epidemiology of parasitic diseases, as well as their diagnosis and treatment.

Thus, this event proposed a new context for epidemiology and parasitic diseases, including diagnosis and treatment, through oral presentations specialized in public policies and innovation in science and technology, aiming to adequately address the issue of parasitic zoonoses. Healthcare Education, Automated Diagnosis of Intestinal Parasites, WaterBorne and FoodBorne diseases were some of the topics discussed during the validity of this event.

The One Health Meeting in Parasitology, 2nd Edition, was chaired by two main researchers (Professors Katia Denise Saraiva Bresciani and Jancarlo Ferreira Gomes) of a Thematic Project of the São Paulo Research Foundation - FAPESP (Process Number 2014/12236-1), which is coordinated by Professor Alexandre Xavier Falcão and entitled "AnImaLS: Large-Scale Image Annotation: What Machines and Experts Can Learn by Interacting”.
